Bagong Liwanag: Extra Shine to Stellar Rivermaya

It was not really an attempt to create a new light. Actually, it is more of an expression of maintaining star status amidst all the hooplah. There have been some hard critics who like making comparisons of Rivermaya's present performance to the past (which you can never rewind, by the way) glories, but the album actually has its own strengths, among many other things.

Wolfgang: A Chip off the Fantastic Four

Wolfgang is considered as one of the four most influential Pinoy rock bands of all time, along with The Dawn, Juan de la Cruz and Eraserheads. They are a mixture of hard rock, grunge and heavy metal. Heavy metal, indeed. So the fans did not take it lightly when they disbanded one bittersweet November in the year 2002.

Chicosci: Soaring Beyond Chico Science

What started as a band paying homage to Brazilian artist Chico Science became a big hit that really made waves and changed the contemporary Pinoy rock scene. The band members started out as college students from Ateneo de Manila University. Mong Alcaraz, Miguel Chavez, Joel Salvador and Carlos Calderon were those college kids, who took in guitarist Sonny Baquisal and Eugene Esquivias to make their gig-playing move from mere dabbling to a full-fledged rock music career. Since then, they have really risen up the ranks and became at par with other Pinoy rock artists that rock Manila today.
