The rock scene in the Philippines have been portrayed by various character-catalysts from the likes of early enthusiasts such as The Juan Dela Cruz Band, Joey ‘Pepe’ Smith, Mike Hanopol, and Sampaguita, up to the classic alternative and heavy metal bands like the Eraserheads, Siakol, Rivermaya, Slapshock, Teeth, Yano and down to their present successors in Parokya ni Edgar, Greyhoundz, Quezo, Bamboo, Kamikaze, and many more.  Another year has opened and one big question is where this Philippine music line goes? What sort of surprise package awaits every Pinoy Rock fan?

   One thing to take notice is that as of the couple of years remakes and revivals of songs from iconic bands and groups in the early decades have been evident. Top of the line bands have collaborated to create a tribute album for The APO Hiking Society. Another tribute album, this time for the Eraserheads, has been fed to the market. Is this the same trend for bands in 2008?

   How about the style of play? How much influences will their Western counterparts have on our mainstream fellows as well as on the underground bands? The brand of play in our country as far as rock is concerned has improved over the decades in the sense that bands have made their way into creating their own identity come the performance proper.

    Late in the 70s and 80s and even in the 90s, Pinoy groups and bands have shown political motivation as stimulated by moral issues and political events that took place. How will the words come out this time? Some bands have stamped social and political relevance in the lyrics of their song. Will others follow the path they are threading?

   Pinoy Rock has reached a top level of influence in the behavior and clothing line of Filipinos of all ages. How drastic, this year, will the music scene affect the manners of living of every listener?

   Only one thing is constant in every industry---the people behind it. No, not the ones directly involved in its production and manufacturing but You. You are the one responsible for what will happen in the Pinoy Rock scenario. As the one going to stores in order to purchase compilations of the band of your choice, You,  the people are vitally involved. 

  Proliferation and survival of the Pinoy Rock scene and with it the artists depend on the belief and trust their avid fans and passionate enthusiasts offer. The people is the inspiration for artists and bands to have the motivation to create. So simply put, this year believing leads to more jamming and rocking.
